Research Directions
My research centers on artificial intelligence — specifically on how agents step out of the static world of data and enter a continuously changing physical reality. Conventional AI excels in discrete, low-speed, predictable settings; the real world is full of continuous signals, rapid change, and chaotic dynamics. My concern is not "more compute," but the interface between agents and the physical world — how perception turns into action, and how experience transfers to environments never seen before:
Embodied Intelligence
Exploring the perception-action loop of agents in the physical world — how the structural coupling of body and environment shapes cognition. Thought without a body is incomplete: intelligence is not merely symbolic computation, but an ability that emerges from sustained interaction with the world. From sensor fusion to motor control, I ask after the embodied foundations of intelligence.
Cognitive Science
Using human cognition as a frame of reference to study the neural and psychological mechanisms of decision, learning, and generalization — how attention is allocated, how predictions form, how errors are corrected. Bringing the layered modeling methods of cognitive science into AI system design, so that machine decision processes gain interpretable structure.
Real-time Decision & Generalization in Chaotic Physical Environments
The core engineering question: how can AI make real-time decisions and generalize across scenarios in continuous, high-speed, chaotic physical environments? Fluids, turbulence, many-body systems — the time constants of the real world leave no room for "offline deliberation." I study the transfer from simulation to reality (sim-to-real) and robustness under distribution shift.

- -Interdisciplinary training in digital marketing, supply chain management, business intelligence, and data structures — the process-thinking and data-driven decision habits I absorbed from business later became my distinctive entry point into AI: viewing a neural network's information flow as an "organization" to manage, and model behavior as a "decision chain" to govern. Trust is not granted once and for all — it is verified, tested, and repaired through continuous interaction. This insight from business practice later became the core framework through which I examine human-AI trust relations.
- -Self-studied philosophy in parallel with formal coursework — Socrates, Kant, and Wang Yangming became my first intellectual tools for asking whether machines can bear moral responsibility.

- -Reproduced the data engineering pipeline of the QwenMath series — building and maintaining large-scale LLM pretraining data pipelines. This was my first encounter with language at an entirely different scale — not as communication between people, but as a torrent of text stripped of context, speaker, and intent. It was here that I began to ask: when language becomes data, where does meaning reside?
- -Gained an insider's view of the coupling between compute, algorithms, and data — a systemic perspective that later grounded my AI methodology. This "engineering intuition" became the foundation of my approach: not philosophizing about AI from a distance, but interrogating the boundaries of the system from inside the pipeline.

Research Methodology
Sim-to-Real
I build systems in simulation — fluids, many-body dynamics, robotic platforms — then push them toward real hardware. Data pipelines, GPU clusters, and real-time inference frameworks are the substrate of my work: every policy iteration and every sim-to-real transfer is an experiment in whether intelligence can land in the physical world.
Mechanism First
Not satisfied with end-to-end black-box performance, I ask after the mechanisms behind decisions: what representations did the model learn? Why does it fail under distribution shift? The layered thinking of cognitive science and interpretable system design are prerequisites for taking AI out of the lab and into high-risk physical environments.
Ethics by Construction
Introducing AI into continuous, high-speed, chaotic environments means errors are no longer "loss scores" but physical consequences. I treat safety and accountability as first-class citizens of the system — from action constraints and safety boundaries to the chain of responsibility — so that every autonomous decision is auditable and traceable.
